I've been a huge fan of Dan Pink's talk at TED, The Surprising Science of Motivation, and here is another presentation of these concepts.
So here we have a concept that shows money is not the motivator that many suspect it is. It removes a key piece of our national identity, and undermines the foundations of many or our intellectual tropes regarding our economic class structure.
So here's the question: Is this a liberal or a conservative idea? I mean, if we're increasing productivity and creating more effective work places, isn't that basically conservative? But we're talking about empowering individuals and normalizing pay scales, and isn't that basically liberal?
